Woodpeckers is discontinuing their Phenolic router table inserts.  The company is moving towards an all aluminum offering.  This was probably the best phenolic insert on the market but I do understand why the move had to be made.  A lot of people end up returning the inserts mostly because of user error.  If you leave your router in the router table attached to the insert, it will take a toll on the flatness of the insert over time.  Other issues were that people would drop the inserts and be upset that they broke.  The move to going all aluminum removes a headache in the manufacturing system, plus it streamlines the product line.  Sometimes you just have to design around people flaws in order to make a better brand.  In the future you will probably see the entire woodworking industry change over from the phenolic or acrylic router table inserts to the aluminum router table inserts.

Woodpecker is a brand that continues to innovate.  They are a company that never sits still long enough to look at their product line.  They are constantly improving and tweaking all their designs, which is one reason they are a great company to work with.
