Router Tables: the versatile equipment in the woodworking industry

I just love the router table. It is one of the most versatile equipment that you will get for your workshop. But you need to be careful while choosing a router table for your workshop. If you do not show much care while buying or making a router table, then it will not prove to be of any help to you.

The router table functions as a base for the router in your workshop. The table gives the router more support and stability so that you can perform your woodworking with much ease. The router table also gives the router much needed movement space, especially vertically, so that it can provide a deep cut as and where required.

The important parts of a router table are the quality of the table top, the fence, the positioning of the router within the table, the stability of the table and a safety switch. Although all the parts are important, but you must never avoid the safety switch. It allows you to shut down the router within a fraction of a second and thus, you can save yourself from an accident.

You must also be careful about the quality of the router table. It must have a flat surface and be resistant to friction. The common materials used for the table top are either aluminum or MDF layered with melamine.

Also keep an eye for the fine adjustment capabilities of your router table. The fine adjustment is required to give you the perfect result, as you will not like to compromise with your woodwork.

Stability of the router table is also an important factor. Most cheap router tables are not that stable. In that case you need to use a bit of your handy work and make hem stable. A cabinet type of stand is a perfect means of providing the required stability to the router table.
